Dr. Wilhelmina Tolbert Holder is a graduate of McGill University Medical School, Canada, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, England. She also holds a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. A strong advocate for community-based initiatives, Dr. Tolbert Holder has worked on several community programs with the University of Minnesota Twin Cities HIV Drug/AIDS Research & Demonstration Project (1990-1992). From 1994 to 2003, she worked as the Director of Program Services in three community-based non-profit organizations. A co-founder of the New Americans Alliance for Development (NAAD), her organization empowers international medical graduates to seek recertification and helps to integrate them into the medical workforce to decrease health disparities and promote health equity.
